Welcome to Shadyside High School’s Art Department
The Shadyside Art Department has evolved dramatically over the years. Starting in a single room with a few tables and chairs, today’s program offers the students of Shadyside curriculum that is housed in four different rooms. Currently Art I students work with traditional media, such as pencil, colored pencil, watercolor and acrylic paints, ceramics, scratchboard and linoleum block printing. Advanced students work with all the traditional media with the addition of jewelry and metals, raku pottery, wheel thrown ceramics, photography and computer graphics. Multimedia production is also a part of the visual arts department. Students in multimedia production work with state of the art broadcast quality audio and video equipment, housed in our own recording studio, to produce original music and video. Each student is responsible for the production of their own podcast program which is regularly published to the iTunes Music Store. After viewing our site please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or suggestions.
